The fabulous, silk Ruby Tunic is already here in the house and shipping has started. The ever-popular Rock Salt Robe and Morocco Chemise arrive this week; with the Palma Trouser, Saturday Shirt, Florence Slipdress and Taylor Shirt to follow.

The fashion industry is one of the world's biggest polluters and is notorious for low wages and unethical treatment of workers. Every day there is a new article, much like this one by VOX. At HK we tackle this challenge and opportunity throughout our design and production processes, with a focus of sourcing as much as possible, as close to home as possible.
Our manufacturer is small, mighty, and located right here in Vancouver. A team of talented machinists craft our pieces by hand, and we value them as an integral part of our brand. At the end of each run, all fabric ends are gathered and distributed to our Circular Collaborators—painters, weavers, quilters, and makers create treasures out of what would normally be thrown out or burnt.
Every day we learn more about how we can be doing it better, and we’ll try and pass that along to you. Our enduring goal is to make products you can feel good in, both inside and out.
Just last weekend I had the opportunity to head down south for a few of days. Santa Monica and Venice were my initial locales where I took to Abbott Kinney Boulevard, checking out both an artist flea market and new summer trends that the LA hipsters were wearing the shit out of—hats.
Artist Fashion Flea Market, Laguna Beach
LA has always been at the forefront of a very unique style—authentically casual with confidence that says, “I don’t like to conform to any style but mine”, which is totally me— still, 52 years in. I bought a cool hat at the flea market, handmade by a local woman and to be honest, I haven’t taken it off (wear a hat ladies, the sun’s a bitch).
Anyway, I am inspired, and I hope my style edits inspire you—I always say just be you. Honestly, HK is fabulous for layering with anything and rocking whatever shoes you want. I wear trainers all the time, I live in them – try it too.
Photo 1: Layers layers layers – Palma Trousers, a sweater and a Rock Salt Robe with trainers, because it was cold that night! And guess what? It feels great on and you can walk forever.
Photo 2: Ruby Tunic as a dress – you will love it. A cashmere wrap with some cool shorts too. Here I’m wearing my Sweaty Betty shorts but it would be cool with some cycling shorts or pedal pushers too. Wear barefooted.
Photo 3: Another dress, this time it’s the Rock Salt Robe – I borrowed a belt, wrapped it and then slid my slippers on. It’s like our version of a shirt dress. A statement necklace would be super cool too.
